The lives of Gabriel Fauré and Claude Debussy, two very different masters of mélodie in fin-de-siècle Paris, were linked in curious ways. Not least, the singer to whom Fauré dedicated the passionate love songs of La bonne chanson became Debussy's wife. In Bonne Chanson, Belle Epoque, a double album released in September 2006, Corinne Orde and Jonathan Cohen present six major cycles and other songs which compare and contrast the works of the two greatest French songwriters of the time. Available to buy on-line.
